    Are you an agency, institution, nonprofit or business who works in the Ventura County water world? Please join us for an important training led by Tribal Community Leaders.
    Hosted by Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples and the Watersheds Coalition of Ventura County (WCVC) WaterTalks program, this workshop series includes two, 2-hour no-cost workshop sessions for institutions and individuals wanting to support the inclusion of local Native Nations’ perspectives in water resource planning and protection, water infrastructure planning, design and implementation. This workshop series will be offered virtually and they are sequential; each session will have different topics – please plan to attend both. Register here for both sessions. You only need to register once.

    What Will be Shared?
    Hearing from Tribal Leaders, participants will learn regional history, understand state law in working with CA Native American tribes, and learn best practices for engaging and supporting local Indigenous Communities in water infrastructure and related water resources planning and protection efforts.

    Who Should Attend?
    • Senior and water resources staff from public and private water-related agencies, special districts, school districts and NGOs
    • Local elected and appointed boards and commissions within the water sector
    • Public office representatives
    • Other civic leaders involved in water and land-use planning within Ventura County
    • City managers and municipal staff
    WaterTalks serves the Disadvantaged Community and Tribal Involvement Program with funding from CA’s Proposition 1 Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) Program. This training is designed and facilitated by Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples and hosted by the Watersheds Coalition of Ventura County IRWM Region.     Private Wells and Septic System training


    May 6, 2023

    This workshop will educate owners on proper operation and maintenance of septic systems, common troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and solutions. We will also discuss the benefits of establishing long term solutions such as On-Site Wastewater Management Programs.

    Schedule:

    Part 1: Private Wells Workshop 10 am – 12 pm (*Must register separately)

    Lunch: 12 pm – 1pm (included)

    Part 2: Septic System Operation and Maintenance 1pm – 3pm

    Can attend one or both workshops, but must register for each.
